Patch 2026.10.20e — First Generation
Highlights
- Sage, Psylocke and Pixie get full kits. Sage reads her enemies for Data and spends it; Psylocke builds telekinetic power into a Psychic Knife; Pixie swaps between a support form and Nightmare.
- Lady Deathstrike and Omega Red are rebuilt from their Paradise sheets. Omega Red is a raid boss now: three or four Fourth Generation mutants rarely beat him.
- Stuck on your turn? After 10 seconds the game tells you exactly what to do next.

New Features
- Idle hints: if the game has been waiting on you for 10 seconds with no click or key press, a banner says what to do next, the thing to click pulses and a soft chime plays.
- Idle hints follow the step: "Pick a card for Sage: click one in your hand", "Move Sage: click a highlighted hex, or press STAY", "Use Assess: click a fighter in its reach. Nobody in reach? Press PASS."
- If you are still stuck 20 seconds later the hint comes back once with a tip. Hints never play for you.
- Everyone else's turn bar pulses on whoever the table has been waiting on for 10 seconds.
- NPCs with a Paradise sheet fight from it: its attributes, Health by NPC tier, cards, traits and Natures.

Combat Rules
- Changed: resisting a damage type takes 1 off the damage pool (was 2). Immunity and vulnerability (+2) are unchanged.
Dev note: most cards deal 3 to 8 and every plain blow is Concussive, so −2 was close to resisting everything.
- Instant cards grey out in your hand for the rest of the turn once you play them, and come back next turn.
- New keyword, Counter (Takedown): a melee attack on her doesn't land, it hits the attacker instead.
- New keyword, Ambush (Shadowstrike): the target rolls Perception against hers; if they fail, the hit gets +2 Damage.
- New keyword, Powerless (Kill Switch): no X-Gene cards next turn. Tech, Training and Mystic cards still work.
- New keyword, Shadow: powers from the Crimson Dawn, not the X-Gene. Powerless doesn't stop them.
- New conditions: Exposed, Battle Plan, Enhanced Physicality, Concentration, Data.
- Changed: Stoked reads "their next card", since Blueprint gives it to anyone, not only mutants.

Characters
Hellfire
- Changed: Madelyne is no longer a Magic being, so Soul Strike passes through her.
Hope
- Changed: Crouching Shot is a Line attack: a straight line 6 hexes long that stops in the first fighter it reaches. It still hits flyers for +2 Damage and shoots them out of the sky.
- Changed: Mimic Physiology is her Physiology, shown on her character page. In a fight her body still copies the toughest mutant within 3 hexes, friend or foe.
- Removed: the plain "Strike" attack (also gone from Surge and Becca); it had no Danger Room card.
Icarus
- Nerf: Endurance 18 → 16 in the fight (Joshua's own 16 → 14; Cheyarafim Morphology still adds +2). Soak 4 → 3.
Lady Deathstrike
- Rebuilt with her own Paradise sheet: Dominant (20 Health), Healing Factor II, Toughness I, Metal.
- New: Extending Claws (Strike, Reach 2, Damage 5, Lacerating). Her bread and butter.
- New: Bushido Flurry (Strike, two hits of Damage 3, Lacerating).
- New: Cyber Lunge (leaps up to 4 hexes, Damage 4, Knockdown).
- New: Death Strike (Strike, Damage 6, Lacerating, Finisher).
- New: Target Lock (Instant, 1 Stamina): she is Lucky this turn.
- New: Old Grudge: +2 Damage against anyone with a Healing Factor.
Mach Two
- Changed: Shrapnel Shield gives Shield 4 to herself or an ally within 4 hexes.
Omega Red
- Rebuilt from his Paradise sheet as a raid boss: Flashpoint (40 Health), Toughness II, Healing Factor I, Super-Strength I.
- Changed: Carbonadium Coils (Grab, Reach 3, Damage 5, holds them, reaches flyers).
- New: Death Factor Syphon (Grab, Damage 3): only on someone he holds; Lifesteal and Drain 1.
- Changed: Carbonadium Sweep (Cone 3, Damage 5, hits flyers, Reflex save for half) and Carbonadium Lash (Line 5, Damage 4, Knockback).
- Changed: Backhand (Punch, Damage 6, Knockdown).
- New: Carbonadium Harpoon (Strike, Reach 6, Damage 3): reels the target in next to him and pulls flyers to the ground. He goes for the weakest foe he can reach.
- Buff: Death Spores deal 3 damage and drain 1 Stamina from everyone next to him at the end of every turn. Death Factor heals him 1 for each fighter they hit.
Dev note: simulated, he beats three Fourth Generation mutants about 90% of the time and four over 80%.
Pixie
- Rebuilt. Removed: Flying Tackle, Giggle Fumes, Soul Search and the old Pixie Dust.
- New: Souldagger (free, Instant): swaps between Pixie (support) and Nightmare (fighting). Nightmare has her own name and face, +4 Brawn, and only Nightmare's cards in hand. Flight works in both forms.
- New (Pixie): Pixie Dust (1 Stamina, Burst 2 within 4 hexes): foes in it are Dazzled for 2 turns. Allies are untouched.
- New (Pixie): Fairy Glitter (free): herself or an ally within 3 hexes heals 4 and loses one debuff.
- New (Pixie): Inyu Natu Kimimel Ignus (Mystic): she teleports up to 6 hexes and takes the friend next to her who needs it most, out of any grip.
- New (Pixie): Wish Upon a Pixie (free, Instant): herself or an ally within 3 hexes is Lucky this turn.
- New (Nightmare): Dragon Flame (free, Speed 5, Damage 3, Fire, Line 3, Piercing). Everyone hit burns with Dragonfire: 1 Fire a turn for 3 turns, started again by a new hit.
- New (Nightmare): Dire Wings (Speed 4, Damage 4, Slashing, Cone 2): every foe straight in front of her.
- New (Nightmare): Steal Breath (a grab, Speed 3, Damage 3): steals 1 Stamina.
- New (Nightmare): Soul Strike (Speed 2, Damage 7, Lacerating): only harms Magic beings.
- Buff: Endurance 13 → 15 and Brawn 9 → 11.
Psylocke
- New: her first Danger Room kit.
- New: Butterfly Blade (free, Instant): Bladed, +2 Damage on punches and strikes, and they cut (Slashing). No Lacerating.
- New: Combat Telekinesis (free, Instant): a stack of Enhanced Physicality (up to 3: +2 Agility, Brawn and Endurance each), Shield +1 and a stack of Concentration (up to 5).
- New: Psychic Knife (Strike, Damage 6 on Intellect, Psychic): needs Concentration 5 and spends it. No Endurance Soak, Finisher; on damage the target is Dizzied and Slowed.
- New: Shadowstep (Shadow): she teleports up to 6 hexes.
- New: Shadowstrike (Shadow, Damage 4 on Agility): she comes out of the shadows next to a target up to 6 hexes away, with Ambush.
Sage
- New resource: Data. Up to 3 for the fight; every stack is +1 Damage on her attacks, so spending it costs her.
- New: Reboot (free, Instant): herself or an ally in melee range is cleansed of every debuff, mind control included. Once per fight it brings a knocked-out ally back at half Health, and brings Sage back on its own if she drops.
- New: Firewall (1 Stamina, Instant): the first Psionic attack on her this turn goes back into the attacker's head, damage or debuff, with no roll. Mind control is repelled. +1 Data.
- New: Takedown (Block): a melee attack on her doesn't land. It hits the attacker, and she throws them into the hex behind her, knocked down. +1 Data.
- Takedown works on anyone with more Brawn than her; only greater Super-Strength beats it. Shots, Focus powers and area attacks meet an ordinary Block.
- New: Assess (Reach 4, any fighter): +2 Data. A foe she reads is Exposed to her next turn (+1 success on her attacks on them).
- New: Blueprint: spends all her Data (2 at least). She and every ally within 2 hexes are Stoked; spend 3 and they also get a Battle Plan (+1 Toughness next turn).
- New: Kill Switch (Strike, Damage 5 on Intellect, spends 1 Data): on damage, a failed Fortitude save leaves the target Powerless next turn.
- New: Assault (Strike, Damage 3 on Intellect): spends all her Data (1 at least); one hit plus one more per stack spent.

Interface
- Danger Room AI: no more swinging grounded melee cards at flyers out of reach.
- Danger Room AI: Pixie stays in her support form while a friend is standing, and goes Nightmare when she is on her own.
- Danger Room AI: Sage raises Takedown when someone she can throw can reach her this turn.

Site and Wiki
- GameMaster: a card's name and description can be edited right on the character page. Flip the card and click. Renames reach the Danger Room too.
- Every combat card's power side uses the Snow Valley art. Xavier School students get the Xavier School art on the front.
- Active Defense and Stance cards show their keywords, like every other card.
- Every keyword on a card's tooltip explains itself, including ones added since the server last restarted.

Bug Fixes
- Butterfly Blade shows as "Butterfly Blade" over Psylocke's head, not "Pretty Sharp".
- Hold Up, Dynamic Entry and Main Character Energy stay once per fight even after a rename.
- An attack turned back on its attacker no longer leaves them holding themselves in a grab.
- The Counter and Firewall keywords have tooltips in the Danger Room.
- Keywords like "Slow I", "Abuse of Power −1" and "Free with 2 Rubble" now explain themselves on the site.
